I love my new boss

I'm in Lund to attend training for my new job prior to starting next week.

The only flights available meant I had to arrive 19 hours before I was needed. Which was helpful as I've now (after 7 weeks of asking) received handover instructions from my previous employer so the time is being well spent performing tedious tasks for those neanderthals.

Breaking up the monotony, my new boss just called to explain joining instructions for tomorrow and what time he'll collect me from the hotel.

He said we had a lot to cover and we'll have a late finish.

I said I expected that to be the case so booked a late flight Friday to give us more time.

He said we'll be finished working by lunchtime.

Not entirely relishing the prospect of spending 9 hours in a town without the comfort of my hotel room (Grand Hotel, Lund check it out) I let out a very unintended "oh...".

Sensing my apprehension, my new boss illucidated:

"oh don't worry, we're sponsoring a Ferrari GT race team and they're letting us attend the cars shakedown, I've booked you some track time too".

Now I look back with extreme fondness on some of my past jobs, but NONE of them have ever gotten off to a start this positive: I'll worry what my target's going to be another day...
