Why...

Is Amazons search engine so reactive? Why can't it be helpful and suggest things to me instead of forcing me to look at items I've already typed in (and therefore looked at) or drive me to their infernal recommendations page?

Case in point, I trawled for some Joby tripods. Had a look at what was on offer, made my choice and ordered one.

Now when i log in, my "homepage" is smothered with Joby goodness.

I don't need it now, I've already bought 1. instead why couldn't amazon use the fact that I've ordered a photography book and a tripod and now assume I might be interested in, say a filter, or a lens glare, or a memory card for my camera. See where I'm coming from?

And on that point, why don't amazon give you a little check box next to every purchase, so that I can say "this item is a gift, don't mess up my recommendations because i bought my 9 yr old some lego". Obviously the wording would need to be more succinct...

Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe my very well defined sense of e-OCD has just kicked up a notch, but for a site as frequented as Amazon, it amazes me they don't have some junior staffer (or senior product manager) that thinks about these things.

Rant over. Class, you are excused.
